Pre-Arranging Your Funeral Provides Many Benefits

Blog

As you age, you begin thinking about your family more. You may even be thinking about death and how your family will be taken care of after you pass on. Pre-arranged funerals are common among people who want to not only make sure their loved ones don't have to pay for their funeral when they pass, they want to have more control over their services as well. Learn how pre-arranging your funeral provides many benefits to both you and your family once you've passed on.

Costs

When you pay for your funeral in advance, it doesn't matter if you pass away in a few years or a few decades, the price you've already paid is locked in. This is a large reason why so many people choose to arrange their funeral services in advance. As funeral and burial costs escalate every year, you can have peace of mind knowing that the price you pay today for the entire service will be the price that is honored when you finally need it. This leaves your family free of financial stress after you die, and allows you to pay for an affordable service today that won't take away from funds you leave behind later.

Details

When you pre-arrange your funeral, you get to be in control of all the details. From the type of casket you are buried in to the music that is played at your services, you get to have your hand in the whole planning process. You can even choose the flowers you want to have on display, and any color schemes for the viewing. If you'd like, you can have the outfit you wish to be married in as part of the arrangements, so your family doesn't have to worry about these details.

Transferable

If you have made funeral arrangements with one funeral home and you've moved to another area or wish to have another company, such as Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, honor your wishes, your arrangements are usually easy to transfer. Most funeral homes will honor a pre-arranged (and paid for) funeral, even if they aren't the ones who originally drew up the arrangements with you. This makes it much easier in the event you do move or wish to have your services done by someone else.

A pre-arranged funeral is a great way to ensure that your services will happen the way you want them to at a cost you can afford. Your family can be at peace knowing they don't have to worry about making these kinds of arrangements themselves, and you can feel great about knowing you have your services covered for when you pass on.

Writing an Obituary: Do's and Don'ts

Following the death of my grandfather, I found myself in the awkward position of having to write the obituary. I wanted to capture the spirit of him and list everything he was proud of in his life, including his family and work accomplishments. However, at the same time, I knew that I had a limited amount of space to work with. After spending hours researching obituaries, I finally felt confident in my skills and proceeded to write my grandfather's. In my opinion, it was perfect. Writing an obituary while you are grieving your loss is challenging, but I hope that my website helps you write one for your loved one that helps capture who they were as a person.
